Bridge for Change (BFC) is an NGO led by Tanzanian youth which empowers youth to take ownership of their futures and the world around them. By giving young people the skills, capacity and opportunities to succeed, BFC will enable them be positive change makers through shaping, inspiring and mentoring them.
BFC works on two main projects – Career Network Support provides career mentoring and practical skills to secondary school students in Tanzania while After School Boom gives university and college students an out-of-school youth a platform to develop their financial behaviour in saving, investment and partnership leading to job creation and building businesses.
Why BFC exist – the gap we’re filling
There is currently a lack of institutions that are focusing on building youth careers in Tanzania. There are no career centres accessible for young people in Tanzania and the national education curriculum does not include intensive career development programs. Consequently, youth in Tanzania lack career guidance and access to career material. As a result, 61% of graduates are ill-prepared to secure jobs
Furthermore, not enough research is conducted on youth career development in Tanzania, so potential career programs do not have the necessary information to develop impact and effective career support programs for Tanzanian youth.
We empower youths to be the positive change-makers by inspiring, shaping and mentoring their careers, and impact them to be creators of their own jobs
